Big Society Capital is an institution that independently deals with projects, data and the money being consumed in the social as well as environmental initiatives of the country. They record all this data and perform a statistical analysis to prepare the right information. Through this institution, a net return of 4-6% is expected at all times which is then added back into the pool. Furthermore, the government encourages the largest banks of the country to invest money into this fund as well.
The statistical data of capital of the Big Society Capital is as follows:
The Big Society capital was started in the year 2012 and it was no later than 2013 that it began investing. Up till now a total of 70 investments are being covered that incorporate 356 million pounds. An extra 640 million pounds have been invested by the co-investors. To support the creation of a social finance market, intermediaries are being utilized for the funds. How does this benefit? Well, by doing this, the external investors can come alongside and provide a better amount available to social platform and charity organizations. Property funds, charity bonds, bridge loans etc are the number of ways through which half of the capital is invested in the charity.
According to the experts, there are three pillars on which the future investments will be based upon. These three pillars will include; early action for prevention of problems, improving lives of people in need and providing needy people with homes. The Dormant Bank is currently researching on the areas where it can have the most major impact. It is too soon to come to a conclusion right now as mostly the investments are of the duration of about seven plus years.
